Botanizing the Gorge: Advanced Plant Identification

  • Portland, OR United States (map)

with Gradey Proctor

April 2016

In this advanced botany series we will explore the botanical playground that is the Columbia River Gorge. Each outing, we will get to know the early spring bloomers in three very different ecosystems – one day on the west side, another in the oak-pine community further east, and then a transformative day amongst the sagebrush. This series is for folks with some basic botanical background who want to expand their skills. We will review botanical fundamentals, explore major plant families, and learn about plant associations. We’ll also discuss the edible and medicinal uses of our diverse native flora.

Classes will be held on three Fridays: April 8, 15, and 22, meeting from 9am-6pm. Carpool will leave from SE Portland. Course cost is $150.
