In this series, we will explore the unique botanical playground that is the Columbia River Gorge together with Gradey. Each outing, we will get to know the early spring bloomers in three very different ecosystems – one day on the coniferous west side, another in the oak-pine community further east, and then a transformative day amongst the sagebrush.
This series is for folks with some basic botanical background who want to expand their skills, as well as folks new to plant ID. We will review botanical fundamentals, explore major plant families, and learn about plant associations. We’ll also discuss the edible and medicinal uses of our diverse native flora.
Classes will be held on three Fridays, April 6th, 13th, and 20th, meeting from 9am-6pm. Carpool will leave from SE Portland. Course cost is $200.
