Plants and Place: Canceled

***** MARCH 2020 NOTE: We’re sorry to cancel this special seasonal class. Please check back in next year for a fantastic adventure in the Gorge! *****

In this series with Gradey, we will explore the unique setting that is the Columbia River Gorge! Over the course of three weeks, we will delve into three very distinct ecosystems: one day on the coniferous west side, another in the oak-pine community further east, and finally an immersion in the sagebrush. On each outing, we will be learning the basics of botany to help us identify plants in the field — and in the future.

Each special location will teach us how we can learn from the plants to help us understand the ecologies in which we find ourselves. More importantly, we will put the human back in these landscapes and seek ways to build relationships with the land. And of course along the way we’ll discuss the edible and medicinal uses of our diverse native flora.

Classes will be held on three Thursdays, April 9th, 16th, and 23rd, meeting from 9am-6pm. Carpool will leave from SE Portland.  Course cost is $200.
