On this wintry walk with Gradey, we will learn to ID perennial plants based on their skeletal remains. Noting the arrangement of leaves, branching and flowering pattern, and perhaps a few lingering seeds we can find clues as to who those ghosts may be. We will also keep an eye out for winter annuals that emerge in late fall and grow slowly through the coldest season in order to bloom at the first sign of spring. Our plant identification tools will inspire us to keep coming back to see what the plants can teach in all their presentations. Along the way we will explore winter ecology, herbalism, and basic botany.
Class location TBD within the Portland Metro area. Cost is $30-$45, sliding scale. To keep things covid-safe, class size is limited. Registration is required by January 25.
