Starting Seeds: Hands-On Class

  • The Arctos School of Herbal and Botanical Studies Portland, OR (map)

This workshop will explore the art of growing medicinals from seed, with the intention of getting participants all set up to start a healing herbal garden of their own! Gradey will share tricks of the trade from his many years of growing plants at the Medicine Garden. We will cover the basics of saving and storing seed, tricks to help germination, and other ways to get your plant babies off to the right start. Whether you want to invest in some basic equipment or pull things off on the cheap, this class will empower you with the information you need.

Included in the cost, participants will get an herbalist gardener’s starter kit of 4 packs of medicinal plant seed, soil, tags, and a starting tray all planted out!

Class will be held on Gradey’s farm in Oregon City. We will be outdoors with masks and social distancing for covid safety; dress for the weather. Full details available upon registration.

Class cost is $50-$60, sliding scale, materials included. Half of all proceeds will go directly to Mudbone Grown, a black-owned farm enterprise that promotes community-based farming!
