It is that time of year to start saving seeds and this class will explore everything you need to know to keep your plants going strong for generations. We will discuss when it’s time to gather from our plants, how to do so efficiently, tactics to winnow the chaff from the seed, how to properly store our seed, and more. Participants will leave with plenty of seed to get their garden going next year, too!
Plants figure out who we are as gardeners, gaining knowledge about the diversity of our unique soils. They then pass that information along to their offspring. By saving seeds from our plants, we are restoring the plant’s knowledge of place and raising medicine that understands us and our unique gardens. We can also select for traits like better medicine or shade tolerance when we save seeds. So join us as we learn these simple skills and keep medicine rooted in our community!
Class will be held at the Medicine Garden farm in Oregon City. Cost is $80-$60, sliding scale. Class size is limited for this in-person, outdoor class. Registration required by September 9.
