Wild Mushrooms: Forage in the Forest

Are you wild about edible mushrooms? Maybe you’re myco-curious? Dive into a fungal forest adventure!

Join Gradey and Missy for an in-depth exploration of everything you need to know when mushroom hunting in the Pacific Northwest. We’ll venture into the forest, where we’ll cover fungal identification, safety concerns when foraging, and how to find delicious mushrooms, all with sustainability and environmental ethics in mind. The role that fungi play in the forest ecosystem will be highlighted, and of course we’ll talk all about how to prepare your finds in the most delicious ways possible. We’ll roam the woods together looking for delectable mushrooms to take home, and with luck, our baskets will get filled! (We’ll keep our eyes peeled for chanterelles, matsutakes, cauliflower mushrooms, and more!) You’ll go home with your fungal finds, a handmade mushroom gift, and informative handouts that explore mushrooms as both food and medicine.

Mushroom novices are welcome, as are folks who have foraged before! This class will happen rain or shine. Carpool will meet in SE Portland.

Cost is $90, sliding scale available. Registration required by September 30.

PLEASE NOTE: This class is currently full. If you’d like to join us later in October, please check out Late Season Wild Mushrooms: Forage in the Forest.
