Seed Saving Class - A Fundraiser for the Plantain Project

Join Gradey for an online class on the basics of saving seeds! We will discuss when it’s time to gather from our plants, how to do so efficiently, tactics to winnow the chaff from the seed, how to properly store our seed babies, and more!

Plants figure out who we are as gardeners, gaining knowledge about the diversity of our unique soils. They then give that information to their children! By saving seeds from our plants, we are restoring the plant’s knowledge of place and raising medicine that understands us and our unique gardens. We can also select for traits like better medicine or shade tolerance when we save seeds. Plus, with recent disruptions to the supply chain, we could see another shortage in the supply of seeds next year.  So join us as we learn these simple skills and keep medicine rooted in our community!

This class will utilize the Zoom platform. To prepare, you can download the free Zoom app. If you’re new to Zoom, you may want to check out their support and training resources beforehand in order to ensure a smooth experience.

Class cost is $20. Half of all proceeds will go directly to the Plantain Project to support their free herbal remedy solidarity work! Start time is 4pm Pacific time. To receive the link to the class, participants must register before 1pm Pacific time.
