Stress Less: Herbal Self Care

  • The Arctos School of Herbal and Botanical Studies Portland, OR (map)

Herbalism is rich in tools that we can integrate into our lives to support emotional and physical well being, and these tools can be used by all of us with some basic and empowering education. Join Missy for a 4-week, hands-on online exploration of medicinal plants for self maintenance, self soothing, and self care: where to get them, when to use them, and how to make amazing herbal remedies with them.

Our winter cycle will go in-depth with uplifting remedies for seasonal affective symptoms; adaptogens for resilience; calming and anti-anxiety herbs; and plant allies for sensuality and indulgence. We’ll go deep with a few healing herbs each session, covering indications, contraindications, and important medicine-making concerns. Students will pick up a goodie bag of herbal ingredients in SE Portland before each class so that we can make plant medicine together and taste plants that we discuss. Those new to herbalism are welcome, as are herbalists with some experience under their belt.

This interactive, hands-on class will utilize the Zoom platform. To prepare, you can download the free Zoom app. If you’re new to Zoom, check out their support and training resources beforehand in order to ensure a smooth experience.

Cost for four weeks of class is $175-$225, sliding scale, and includes all herbal ingredients for medicine making. There is a modest scholarship available to BIPOC (Black people, Indigenous people, & people of color) students; please inquire for details.
